From www.leamicheleweb.org:
Lea Michele, breakout star from Fox hit ‘Glee,’ stole the Tony Awards Sunday night when she marched down the center aisle of Radio City Music Hall belting out Barbra Streisand’s hit ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ to the star-studded crowd. Even Beyonce who was sitting next to her husband Jay Z, was stunned to hear Michele’s amazing voice.
“Lea is definitely going to be one of the biggest recording stars in the world,” a recording executive told me after the show. “Her voice is up there with Mariah and Beyonce. There is nothing she cannot do. With the right song this girl could save the music business, appealing to other young and old.”
And with a revival of ‘Funny Girl’ scheduled to hit Broadway in 2012 — the first time since its original production in 1964 staring Barbra Streisand — it looks like producers might have found someone who could not only stand up to Streisand’s legacy, but also totally surpass it.
