Hello all of GLEEkdom!
It was this episode when I began my journey (pun intended) with GLEE. I honestly decided to watch this episode because Josh Groban was gonna be on it. Little did I know what would begin in my life!
I have to jump on these two references before anything else!!
1. Emma brought up the confidence of John Stamos in this episode. Prophetic? Possibly.
2. Dakota Stanley refers to Finn as "Frankenteen", which is now Cory Monteith's twitter account. @frankenteen
LOVED these references!
This early episode really shows the differences of everyone in GLEE, and that ALL are accepted, even while they are still learning things about themselves. Like confidence. Where Will puts together a few guys as "Acafellas" to help with his confidence which is dwindling by what he believes is upcoming parenthood & thinking he's failing with the glee club.
We also only had a taste, this episode, of what Terri, Emma & Sue are. Although, we did get quite a bit out of Emma. When you have to scrub your plant leaves, you need therapy. And I love the glimpse of Quinn's confidence when she "stands up" to Sue. However, watching Sue make Santana cry by taking away tanning priviledges was hysterical!
Can I just say that Dakota's "little man" syndrome was so freakin' funny!! But when New Directions were spying on Vocal Adrenaline, I would like to know where Jessie was at! OK, I realize the character wasn't there yet, and neither was Shelby, but I just thought it was interesting. But...Jessie can't do any of those dance moves anyway. Johnathon Groff &/or Jessie St. James fans, do not get upset...I am just pointing out my opinion by observation. But that will take place in future recaps.
Puck comes into his own in this episode & shows his place in GLEE. Even if he has decided he's lovin' some cougar action. FUNNY!!
OK, I have a question. Why would you celebrate a teacher coming back from getting his thumbs sawed off with a cake that has 2 giant thumbs up? That's awful! But amazingly funny for the show!
Even though we realize how creepy Sandy is by the pilot, this is where we get to see to what level of creepy he is. If someone ever tells you that you are "Sandy-level creepy", you may want to take a good look at yourself & do some serious life reflection. However, I do not remember seeing in this episode where Josh Groban wants Sandy to stop sending nude pix of himself. Did he say tonight & I missed it, or was it edited out?
Can I say that I love Will's parents? Well, I do! Even his alcoholic mom (that Josh Groban happens to love). Whatever happens with them? Dad goes to law school & mom ends up with Josh? COME BACK, MR. & MRS SHUESTER!!
Can I just say, also...poor Howard? Well, here goes..."Poor Howard"! That poor dude just doesn't have it going for him. I think it was Terri that made him do inventory...just saying...
We always have a feel for who Rachael is. Period. There is really nothing to break down yet!
I'm really glad they didn't extend the thing with Mercedes & Kurt, too.
OK...I think that's it for my recap this week.
Next week's may be late as my family will be in the middle of a move. I am trying to figure out how to work in some GLEE. It may have to be hulu and a late recap. So just incase you're wondering...
