Sue will DOSomething About It

Gleetastic.com:

You love her on Glee, and now you can love her as the host of a made-up awards show that supports a great cause! Jane Lynch has been selected to host the VH1 DoSomething Awards, which celebrate "do-ers and world changers by honoring five young people for their commitment to social change."

Also on the schedule to appear are Natasha Bedingfield, Lifehouse, and Travis McCoy (who has the hit single "Billionaire" burning up radio stations as we speak). No word yet on whether or not Jane's Glee cast members will make an appearance too, but don't be shocked. After all, we know they're all about social change!

The awards will air live on VH1 on July 19.

Emma Disappears...

In doing some digging, Emma Pillsbury will be in the first episode of the 2nd season & then will not appear again until the 10th episode! What's with the disappearing trick?

No trick...Jayma Mays is starring as "Grace" in the upcoming Smurfs movie!

Wonder what that means for John Stamos? Will he appear in the 1st & 10th episodes? Hmmm...something to ponder on...

Freshman Year was AMAZING!

From Gary Trust at Billboard.com:

With the last memories inscribed in the inside covers of the 2009-10 McKinley High yearbook, Chart Beat looks back at an honor roll of records that the "Glee" cast earned in its freshman year.

HOME, AT NO. 1: As previously reported, "Glee: the Music, Journey to Regionals" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking the Fox TV series' third No. 1 album. "Glee: the Music, the Power of Madonna (EP)" (May 8) and "Glee: the Music, Volume 3: Showstoppers" (June 5) previously debuted at the summit.

When the two latter sets bowed at No. 1 four weeks apart, the "Glee" cast set the mark for shortest span between first weeks at No. 1 with different albums in the 54-year history of the Billboard 200. With its latest leader, the act rewrites its own record with a new No. 1 just three weeks after its last set arrived in the top spot.

With three Billboard 200 No. 1s in 2010, the "Glee" cast is the first act to enjoy as many leaders in a calendar year since another TV troupe, the Monkees, logged a trio of toppers in 1967: "More of the Monkees," "Headquarters" and "Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones LTD."

BALLADS, AND MORE: On the Billboard Hot 100 to be released tomorrow (June 17), multiple "Glee"-makes are expected to bow, marking the last week that the series' first season will impact the chart.

As noted in Chart Beat last Thursday (June 10), with 59 visits through last week, the "Glee" cast trails only the Beatles (71) for most chart entries among non-solo acts in the Hot 100's 52-year history. Among all artists, the "Glee" cast has logged the ninth-most Hot 100 titles; Elvis Presley leads with 108 visits from the chart's inception in 1958 through 2003.

Fourteen "Glee" tracks have reached the Hot 100's top 40, the most among all artists since the cast first arrived on June 6, 2009. Taylor Swift is next with 11 top 40 hits in that span.

On Digital Songs, the ensemble's 66 appearances through last week are the most since the chart began contributing to the Hot 100 in 2005. Lil Wayne ranks second with 50 Digital Songs entries in that stretch.

THE POWER OF 'GLEE': While a comprising a minority of the act's discography, certain classic songs have risen to new Hot 100 heights thanks to "Glee" cast cover versions.

The group's highest-charting Hot 100 entry, "Don't Stop Believin'," debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the June 6, 2009, chart. Journey's original recording reached No. 9 in 1981.

The cast's cover of "Last Christmas" spent a week at No. 63 in December. Neither the evergreen original version by Wham! in 1984 nor any covers by such artists as Coldplay, Hilary Duff or Taylor Swift had ever appeared on the Hot 100.

The "Glee" cast has also brought well-loved songs from Broadway to the Hot 100 for the first time, including "Defying Gravity," from the musical "Wicked" (No. 31), "Don't Rain on My Parade," from "Funny Girl" (No. 53), and "Lady Is a Tramp," from "Babes in Arms" (No. 81).

JOURNEY TO THE CHART'S TOP REGION: By debuting atop this week's Billboard 200, the "Glee" cast's tribute to Journey equals the chart-topping output of the venerable San Francisco rock band.

Journey has totaled one week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, ruling with "Escape" - the parent album of "Don't Stop Believin' " - on the survey dated Sept. 12, 1981.

(The oldest of the "Glee" club's singers, Cory Monteith, aka Finn Hudson, wouldn't be born until the following year ...)

SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER: Perhaps most remarkably, the "Glee" cast may have only begun to write its Hot 100 legacy. Fox recently announced that series has been renewed for at least two more seasons.

"It's been a whirlwind year, from shooting the pilot to performing at the White House to the concert tour, and yet we all feel like we've just begun this amazing musical journey," said "Glee" creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy. "Having time to plan ahead is wonderful and we think our Gleeks worldwide are going to love what we'll have in store for them in seasons two and three."

As long as the series continues to produce memorable episodes deftly mixing comedy, drama and theatricality (with any scenes revealing Sue Sylvester's ultimately big-hearted nature perhaps the most touching), the cast could sustain its Hot 100 staying power. (A Columbia Records executive confirms that the formula of the label and Fox teaming to release new tracks digitally alongside each new "Glee" episode is likely to continue).

If the sophomore season of the program yields Hot 100 hits at the pace of its freshman year, the "Glee" cast could pass the Beatles' 71 chart visits by Homecoming weekend. By next year's prom (with generous budgets for show choir and Cheerios, McKinley High couldn't afford one this year?), the cast could pass Presley's 108 entries for most among all acts in the chart's archives.

Though the "Glee" cast is almost never seen in class, (chart) history is sure to be a key subject in the series' second season.

The GLEE Episode I Want to See!

Picture this, GLEEks:

It is rumored that Britney Spears wants a recurrung role on GLEE, while Ryan Murphy is salavating over having a Britney Spears homage epidsode. I know how Britney will come on & I will tell you what her departure might be...

It has been thrown out there that Britney should be Sue Sylvester's over-eager assistant, so let's go with that...and stay with me! Here goes!

Tiffany (Britney Spears) comes on as an assistant/apprentice to Sue Sylvester since she has witnessed the Cheerios winning 6 national titles. And we all know how much Sue loves helping the "under priveledged"! Perfect!

Tiffany's over-zealous demeanor is grating on Sue's nerves (DUH...I know - stick with me).

A few (maybe 3-4) episodes of this leads to Tiffany wanting her shot at giving the Cheerios an assignment & has heard about their Madonna routine. She thinks the Cheerios need to do Britney Spears (of course)! Sue actually goes with this idea. All is fine & dandy until Tiffany convinces the glee club to perform WITH the Cheerios doing a Britney mash-up (and Britney sings with them, too) because she has also heard about the New Directions' notable performances in competitions & thinks it would be a perfect match! D'oh! Sue no likey lil Tiffy anymore! And then that would be Tiffany's exit, my GLEEks.

We get Britney on the show for a few episodes AND a Britney homage episode! Sweet, huh? But, wait...there's more!

This is also the episode where Will's lil bro (Justin Timberlake) is at McKinley substituting & helping Will with Glee club for the week. (this scenario & guest star has been pretty much confirmed)! As it turns out Will's bro & Tiffany know each other...they dated back in college!! HA HA HA!!

This would be one of the best. episodes. EVER!

What do ya think?

A GLEE Movie Trilogy, You Ask?

From Meghan Carlson, Sr. Writer for buddytv.com:

As an unabashed Gleek, I take this news with a hefty grain of salt, a teaspoon of reticent and an overflowing cup of "Let's not get ahead of ourselves here." And I suggest you do the same:

HollywoodLife.com reports that all the major Glee stars have signed contracts obligating them to appear in up to three Glee movies if 20th Century Fox ever decides to go that route.

The Glee stars, including Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Mark Salling, signed the contract before they even started filming the pilot back in 2008. Now, with the massive success of the show after season one (plus their nation-wide tour), a movie sounds more than feasible, at least in the minds of rabid fans.

But don't forget: it's still just an "option" for Fox, and no planning has taken place. And for good reason--we haven't even seen Glee season 2 yet!

Like I said, I'm as big a Gleek as they come, but that's what makes me all the more concerned. Shouldn't we let the show explore itself as a show for a few seasons before we start fantasizing about films? Glee has already taken the concept of a teen dramedy to new grand, cinematic levels on the small screen, and there's still so much as-yet-untapped potential for where the series could go in the future.

Sure, it's exciting to daydream that in the future--the far future--we could be sitting in the megaplex watching Sue Sylvester's Big Adventure. But why fantasize about paying to watch two hours of Glee fun in a few years when, in just a few months, you'll be getting one hour of Glee every week for free?

Top 10 Sue-isms of Season 1's Back 9

From Gleetastic.com:

Is it really possible to narrow down the best Sue Sylvester quotes to only 10? No, it’s not. But below you’ll find our picks for the funniest, most biting, and just plain craziest Sue-isms from the back nine episodes of Season 1. Without further ado, here’s Sue.

10. Cheerleader gone rogue (From “Hell-O”)
Brittany and Santana are dumber than Sarah Palin? Wow, that's saying a lot...

Sue (to Santana and Brittany): "You two are the dumbest students I have ever met, and I once taught a cheerleading seminar to a young Sarah Palin.

9. Great for hair... or popcorn (From “The Power of Madonna”)

Sue (to Will): I want you to listen very closely. You can have Barbras, your Chers, and your Christinas, and... wow, I just lost my train of thought. You have so much margarine in your hair.

8. More hair jokes at Will's expense (From “Journey”)

Sue: I have to be honest, Will. I'm having a really difficult time hearing anything you have to say today because your hair looks like a briar patch. I keep expecting racist animated Disney characters to pop up and start singing songs about living on the bayou.

7. Sue gets drunk with power again (From “Home”)

Sue: Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to put in a call to the Ohio Secretary of State, notifying them I will no longer be carrying photo ID. You know why? People should know who I am.

6. We were thisclose to a Schue-Sue hook-up! (From “Funk”)

Sue (to Will): You know what? I'm not gonna do this. Even your breath stinks of mediocrity. It's making me sick.

5. If only Will could get rid of Sue! (From “Funk”)

Sue: You know, for me, trophies are like herpes. You can try to get rid of 'em, but they just keep coming. You know why? Sue Sylvester has hourly flare-ups of burning, itchy, highly contagious talent.

4. Sue gives too much information... but what else is new? (From “Journey”)

Sue: It's as barren as me in here, Will.

3. Meet the next Tim Gunn and Tyra! (From “Home”)

Sue (to Kurt and Mercedes): How do you two not have a show on Bravo?

2. Schue's face is as smooth as a... well, you get the idea. (From “Bad Reputation”)

Sue: Will, I may buy a small diaper for your chin because it looks like a baby's [behind].

1. Letterman would be so proud! (From “Dream On”)

Bryan: Sue, you're an impressive woman. I can't tell you how much you turn me on right now. You ever heard of the term, "anger sex"?
Sue: It's the only kind I know, Bryan.
Bryan: I should tell you I'm married.
Sue: Not a problem for me.
Bryan: And I'm still cutting half your budget.
Sue: Eh, you win some, you lose some.
Bryan: Should I lock the door?
Sue: No. Got a secret room upstairs — like Letterman.

GLEE/BP Oil Mash-Up

From www.huffingtonpost.com by David Yarnold:

After decades of inaction, this may be the single most important moment in America's search for clean energy. Starting with Richard Nixon, the last eight U.S. Presidents have promised to end our addiction to imported oil and develop our own domestic energy resources. We're now on the verge of unprecedented progress.

All 59 Democratic U.S. Senators met on Capitol Hill to talk about passing a climate and clean energy bill this year (the House passed one last year). Several different and bipartisan energy bills have already been unveiled in the Senate - and in some cases, already analyzed by outside experts -- so lawmakers have plenty of ideas at hand and can adopt the best aspects of the different measures. And the President is making the issue a priority -- calling the sponsors of the different bills, summoning key lawmakers to the White House, and planning a bipartisan meeting next week to move a bill through the Senate.

If we're now seeing unprecedented movement on clean energy legislation, it may be because we're also seeing unprecedented environmental damage from the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. There are plenty of reasons for fast action on clean energy -- a billion dollars a day going overseas for imported oil, millions of tons of pollution going into our air, and threats to our health. But the oil spill may be the ultimate catalyst toward action. Americans who have seen pictures of the disaster are frightened or outraged. And rightly so.

From a comfortable distance -- in our classrooms, around our water coolers, through pictures on TV or newspapers -- the BP oil disaster is depressing and horrific.

But up close where every breath you take fills your mouth, nose, and lungs with the toxic mix of oil and industrial chemicals, where you talk with resilient and proud locals and hear their frustration, anger, and concern, where the disturbing and unforgettable scenes of a precious and fragile ecosystem in crisis are just seared into your mind - all of it is just so bad, so repugnant, so wrong in the most profound way.

Two days in the Gulf of Mexico left me enraged - and deeply resolved. Both the widespread damage and the inadequacy of the response effort exceeded my worst fears.

Seeing terns and gulls sitting on the oil-soaked booms that were supposed to be protecting their fragile island marshes - booms that had been blown or washed ashore - may have been the ultimate symbol of the devastation unfolding in the Gulf.

Or maybe it was the lone shrimp trawler, aimlessly circling off the coast, dragging a saturated gauze-like boom behind it, accomplishing nearly nothing.

Or maybe it was the desperation of the fishermen whose livelihoods had been snatched away by BP's recklessness - and yet want nothing more than to see the moratorium on drilling lifted so their economies don't dry up, as well.

I'd spent a full day on the Gulf and we ended up soaked in oily water and seared by the journey into the heart of ecological darkness.

By Tuesday night, I was home. My throat burned and my head was foggy and dizzy as I showed my pictures and my flip-camera video to my wife, Fran, and my 13-year-old daughter, Nicole, on the TV in the family room.

Images of the gooey peanut-butter colored oil and the blackened wetlands flashed by. Pictures of dolphins diving into our oily wake and Brown Pelicans futilely trying to pick oil off their backs popped on the screen. And, out of nowhere, Nicole put on the music from the season finale of Glee.

With all these horrific images on the screen, she had turned on the show's final song of the year, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The song, a slow, sweet, ukulele and guitar-driven version, couldn't have added a deeper sense of tragic irony.

I choked up. And then that resolve kicked in: I wanted anyone/everyone to see what our addiction to oil had done to the Gulf and to contrast that with the sense of hope and possibility that "Somewhere" exudes.

Long story short, last weekend, Peter Rice, Chairman of Fox Networks Entertainment, gave Environmental Defense Fund the green light to use the song. The pictures you'll see were shot by two incredibly talented EDF staffers, Yuki Kokubo and Patrick Brown -- and a few are mine.

The inspiration was Nicole's. This is for her, and for all of our kids -- and theirs to come. And for all Americans who are now moved to act -- to call their Senators and tell them to do more to stop the spill, to clean up the Gulf, and to finally, finally, get us a clean energy bill.

ACAFELLAS

Hello all of GLEEkdom!

It was this episode when I began my journey (pun intended) with GLEE. I honestly decided to watch this episode because Josh Groban was gonna be on it. Little did I know what would begin in my life!

I have to jump on these two references before anything else!!

1. Emma brought up the confidence of John Stamos in this episode. Prophetic? Possibly.

2. Dakota Stanley refers to Finn as "Frankenteen", which is now Cory Monteith's twitter account. @frankenteen

LOVED these references!

This early episode really shows the differences of everyone in GLEE, and that ALL are accepted, even while they are still learning things about themselves. Like confidence. Where Will puts together a few guys as "Acafellas" to help with his confidence which is dwindling by what he believes is upcoming parenthood & thinking he's failing with the glee club.

We also only had a taste, this episode, of what Terri, Emma & Sue are. Although, we did get quite a bit out of Emma. When you have to scrub your plant leaves, you need therapy. And I love the glimpse of Quinn's confidence when she "stands up" to Sue. However, watching Sue make Santana cry by taking away tanning priviledges was hysterical!

Can I just say that Dakota's "little man" syndrome was so freakin' funny!! But when New Directions were spying on Vocal Adrenaline, I would like to know where Jessie was at! OK, I realize the character wasn't there yet, and neither was Shelby, but I just thought it was interesting. But...Jessie can't do any of those dance moves anyway. Johnathon Groff &/or Jessie St. James fans, do not get upset...I am just pointing out my opinion by observation. But that will take place in future recaps.

Puck comes into his own in this episode & shows his place in GLEE. Even if he has decided he's lovin' some cougar action. FUNNY!!

OK, I have a question. Why would you celebrate a teacher coming back from getting his thumbs sawed off with a cake that has 2 giant thumbs up? That's awful! But amazingly funny for the show!

Even though we realize how creepy Sandy is by the pilot, this is where we get to see to what level of creepy he is. If someone ever tells you that you are "Sandy-level creepy", you may want to take a good look at yourself & do some serious life reflection. However, I do not remember seeing in this episode where Josh Groban wants Sandy to stop sending nude pix of himself. Did he say tonight & I missed it, or was it edited out?

Can I say that I love Will's parents? Well, I do! Even his alcoholic mom (that Josh Groban happens to love). Whatever happens with them? Dad goes to law school & mom ends up with Josh? COME BACK, MR. & MRS SHUESTER!!

Can I just say, also...poor Howard? Well, here goes..."Poor Howard"! That poor dude just doesn't have it going for him. I think it was Terri that made him do inventory...just saying...

We always have a feel for who Rachael is. Period. There is really nothing to break down yet!

I'm really glad they didn't extend the thing with Mercedes & Kurt, too.

OK...I think that's it for my recap this week.

Next week's may be late as my family will be in the middle of a move. I am trying to figure out how to work in some GLEE. It may have to be hulu and a late recap. So just incase you're wondering...

GLEE Casting Spell on Harry?

From www.tvstar.com by Ian Spelling (Sr. Staff Writer):

Daniel Radcliffe is taking this whole song and dance thing very, very seriously. Just how seriously? Well, now that he's wrapped the Harry Potter saga with the upcoming two-part finale "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", Radcliffe is jumping into the Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying". The show, which starred Matthew Broderick during a previous run on the Great White Way, is tentatively set to open next spring. But that's old news already. The new news is this: he's interested in appearing on Glee.

Harry Potter, a Gleek? Radcliffe dueting with Lea Michele? What would He Who Must Not Be Named think of that? Actually, Voldemort probably would want to be on Glee, too, come to think of it. But we digress. Plus, it's not like it's a done deal with Radcliffe. Far, far from it. He merely stated, when Access Hollywood caught up with him the other day at the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios in Orlando, that he's open to the idea. Here are his exact words: "I would consider it," he said. "I mean, of course... It’s an amazing show and I [would] obviously be honored to be asked. But, I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet. They've got standards like Kristin Chenoweth!"

Glee creator/executive producer Ryan Murphy, if you're reading this, call Radcliffe's people.

Season 2? Expect More!

From www.vancouversun.com by Eric Volmers, Canwest News Service:

Fans of Fox's musical-comedy Glee can expect new students, new teachers and a sampling of mystery guest stars to enter William McKinley High School for the hit show's second season, says one of its creators.

Ian Brennan, who was at the Banff World Television Festival on Wednesday, remained tight-lipped about who exactly is heading to class for season two, but said the show will be maturing with the students.

"For my mind, totally the show will sort of step up in the second season," says Brennan, who met with the media after speaking to delegates Wednesday afternoon. "It's not just anymore about a rag-tag bunch of kids putting on a show. They are at a different level. It's very much, in their life, their sophomore year and these are the changes that happen."

Some of the new blood will be coming from a MySpace audition campaign, Brennan says. That's just one of the ways the show has expanded its brand, which now includes top-selling cds and live performances.

Glee will also continue to up the ante when it comes to musical numbers, a direction the show had already taken in the last part of season one after a four-month hiatus.

"I think we just realized that the structure of the show could sustain that amount of music," Brennan says. "We were actually probably under performing in a way with what we could do. To my mind, from a creative end it didn't have anything to do with sales or wanting to get top of the charts or whatever. The music for the show adds an effervescent quality that kind of lifts it. We never wanted to seem like we're cramming in music. The music still has to further the story, that's how the tracks work the best."

Glee, which revolves around an underdog high school show choir in Ohio, debuted in September and immediately became a surprise hit for Fox, offering a mix of smart comedy, high-school melodrama and lavish musical numbers. It stars Calgary-born actor Cory Monteith as Finn Hudson, a quarterback who shocks his friends by joining his school's show choir.

Brennan said it was a hard part to cast and suggested Monteith's unique "Canadian" qualities may have actually given him a leg up.

"Maybe this is totally offensive, but there's something so open and earnest," Brennan said. "He's just like a guy and handsome and kind of a doofus and weird in his body. I just remember when he walked in, I really thought he was the guy early on. (Co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ryan Murphy) made fun of me and said I had a weird producer crush on Corey. But he was just our guy."

While the comedy on the show can occasionally be edgy, Brennan credits Glee's earnest qualities for its success.

"It's easy to pick on procedurals or whatever," Brennan says. "TV is a whole smorgasbord, that's what's wonderful about it. But there's a show on television about rape. It's literally a show about rape. In the context of that, I think sometimes the clouds can clear and allow for something different."

"I don't know whether it was just that we had enough of bad news, so let's sing about it for a second."

Lea Michele Could Save Music

From www.leamicheleweb.org:

Lea Michele, breakout star from Fox hit ‘Glee,’ stole the Tony Awards Sunday night when she marched down the center aisle of Radio City Music Hall belting out Barbra Streisand’s hit ‘Don’t Rain On My Parade’ to the star-studded crowd. Even Beyonce who was sitting next to her husband Jay Z, was stunned to hear Michele’s amazing voice.

“Lea is definitely going to be one of the biggest recording stars in the world,” a recording executive told me after the show. “Her voice is up there with Mariah and Beyonce. There is nothing she cannot do. With the right song this girl could save the music business, appealing to other young and old.”

And with a revival of ‘Funny Girl’ scheduled to hit Broadway in 2012 — the first time since its original production in 1964 staring Barbra Streisand — it looks like producers might have found someone who could not only stand up to Streisand’s legacy, but also totally surpass it.

JUSTIN Timberlake is planning to make a cameo appearance on the hit TV show Glee.

The SexyBack hitmaker will reportedly play a substitute teacher and brother of Matthew Morrison’s character Will Schuester.

“There is more than a little resemblance to between Justin and Matthew Morrisson who plays Mr Shuester so the plan to bring Justin in for a cameo as his younger brother is a very popular idea,” said one insider. “They are just trying to work it all out at the moment.

“The cast members are very excited about the prospect of working with him — especially Lea Michele, so it has everybody’s seal of approval. They just need to work it all out now.

“The idea is that he will be a substitute teacher and join the Glee club for a week.”

SPOILERS & RUMORS for Season 2

If you don't want any spoilers...then DO NOT READ!!

** SPOILER & POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT **

According to theGLEEkspot.tumblr.com:

Lots of have been asking for S2 spoilers, so I’m just gonna do one big post on what I know.
NEW CHARACTERS:
1. Kurt is getting a boyfriend. He’s apparently supposed to be pretty chill and laid back, just an everyday guy. But he’s also gonna be struggling with his sexuality, and Kurt is gonna help him out through all that.
2. Rival for Rachel. A christian country singer, a la Carrie Underwood. She’s also supposed to have a pretty big problem with Kurt and his new man being gay.
3. Possible love interest for Mercedes.

GUEST STARS:
John Stamos is confirmed, he’ll be playing Emma’s dentist, the new boyfriend. I sense lots of tension between him and Will. Susan Boyle is also confirmed. Rumored are Matt Lucas, also Leona Lewis who apparenty celebrated her role with Matt Morrison in London. Taye Diggs has said he’s on board for the show, so has Tim Urban. But these days, everyone wants to be on Glee, so who knows who’s actually gonna make it.

TRIBUTE EPISODES:
Expect 2 this season, one in the fall and one in the spring. One has a pretty darn good shot at being another episode dedicated to Madonna, the other one isn’t decided. Ryan’s thrown around names like Britney Spears and Billy Joel. I’m pretty sure we’re getting a Britney episode. Ryan’s basically said it without saying it. He wants it BAD.

THE RETURN OF PAST CHARACTERS:
April Rhodes will be back for Season 2. Ryan has said he’d love to bring Idina and Jonathan back to reprise their roles as Shelby and Jess[i]e, but don’t count on them being regulars again.

SEASON 2 FINALE:
Nationals in New York. So this means alot. We know if they show Sectionals or Regionals that they win. Ryan says he hasn’t decided if they’re going to win yet or not, but he promises it’s gonna be BIG.

SONGS:
An unofficial list was leaked a few weeks ago of the songs for the first episode. They include:

1. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba (New Directions)
2. Open Your Eyes To Love by LMNT (Rachel and Finn)
3. Come Back To Me by David Cook (Will)
4. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen
5. Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt (Puck)

This is huge rumor. It DOES fit, though. So don’t quote me on these.

SOME OTHER NEWS:
THERE WILL BE A CHRISTMAS EPISODE. I’m very excited. This is Susan Boyle’s episode, too. There’s also an episode after the Superbowl, which will be a tribute episode. Artie and Puck will both have to reaudition for New Directions, but only one will make it. (I think there’s a catch, here.)
I’ll keep you guys updated as I hear more!

** Just FYI, Matt Lucas HAS been confirmed as a teacher for Season 2! Check out http://allgleek2me.blogspot.com/2010/06/another-teacher-for-mckinley-high.html

FOX's GLEE Mirrors New Directions at Regionals

According to FOX's www.gleegossip.com

New York Times writer BENJAMIN TOFF recently wrote about Glee’s season finale Nielsen ratings and how strong the series ended with it’s season finale (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/10/arts/television/10arts-007.html)

Benjamin Toff, NyTimes.com
Fox’s “Glee” ended its first full season on Tuesday on a high note, attracting 10.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s estimates, the series’s largest audience without the benefit of following an episode of “American Idol.” Fox placed third for the night over all. ABC was No. 1 for the night with its coverage of Game 3 of the N.B.A. Finals. CBS was second with repeats of its crime shows. NBC was fourth.

We can’t wait for the next season of Glee to unfold and we know that these types of ratings will continue!

Coldplay's Apology

According to Starpulse.com

British rockers Coldplay have issued an apology to the makers of hit U.S. show Glee for turning down a request to use their music on the program - and they have backtracked by giving producers access to their full catalogue.

Creator Ryan Murphy asked the Yellow hit-makers if he could showcase their songs for a special episode, but the band turned him down.

After the success of a Madonna tribute show in April, the rockers have now admitted to Murphy they "were wrong" to have snubbed the opportunity and have offered him full use of their entire music catalogue.

Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter, "At the beginning a lot of people didn't know what we were and asked to see pages (in advance), but I refused because I didn't want to set precedent of them having any involvement. My favorite rejection was Bryan Adams. Coldplay and Bryan Adams were really the only rejections. But Coldplay called a week ago and said, 'We're sorry, you can have our catalogue'."

** Hmmm...how soon will Bryan Adams jump on the GLEE bandwagon now? Especially since he is doing the music for the upcoming animated "Dorthy of Oz", starring Lea Michele...

Possible GLEE/Twilight Crossover...

According to Gleetastic.com:

You love Glee. You love Twilight (okay, maybe you do). And up until now, your two true loves have been separated by the pop culture landscape and the fact that vampires probably don't exist in the halls of McKinley High School (good thing too, right Principal Figgins?). But that might be all about to change!

Michael Welch, who stars as one of Bella's human best friends in the Twilight movies, is on board for some cross-pollination. "There probably is, I would imagine, quite a bit of Glee-Twilight crossover with the fans, so I think that would be great." Oh, you ain't kidding, Michael!

"We have tons of musicians in the Twilight cast," he told E!. "I think we all know Rob is a singer and a songwriter and a piano player and a guitar player, but so is Anna Kendrick. I'm a drummer; Jackson Rathbone is in a band...It might be kind of fun to do a little crossover there. I'll talk to Heather about it, and see what she says." Heather is Heather Morris (Brittany!), who will be appearing with Michael at the Nationwide Young Playwrights Festival this summer.

This could maybe happen, Gleeks! Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to imagine Rachel and Jacob getting frisky!

GLEEfully Coldpay?

According to the Washington Post's Celebritology 2.0's Jen Chaney & Liz Kelly...

Coldplay has given the OK for GLEE to use their songs!

Family Affair?

Source: www.buddytv.com by Henrik Batallones

Really, gleeks, we should've seen this coming: the same way Idina Menzel expressed her interest in joining Glee -- which ended in her taking a guest role in the recently concluded season -- her husband is now saying the same thing.

Talking to E! Online, Taye Diggs said, simply, that he'd also want to do Glee in the future. "I would love to do it," he said. "I love the show. I'm a straight up fan. It's so enjoyable to watch and to see a show for people who to sing and dance."

The Private Practice star also appreciated how the Glee writers treated Menzel's storyline, from kick-ass Vocal Adenaline coach to Rachel's biological mother in less than two months. "I love how they integrated Idina into the show, and I would love to be a guest," he said.

Diggs, of course, is also a Broadway veteran, making a splash as part of the original cast of the Broadway musical Rent -- where he and Menzel met.

That said, would you also want Diggs to join Glee, even if just for one episode? What role should he take? Can we have a little in-joke and have him as one of Rachel's dads?

** I love that he has interest! He'd be awesome! However...it would be funny if he were one of Rachael's dads...but that would mean her Jewish dad is the real father & Rachael made a comment that she loved that she didn't know which one was her real dad. Not sure if that one would work.

OK...comment away, GLEEks!!

GLEE-est Moments of the Tony's

Source: MTV Buzzworthy by Tamar Anitai

You didn't have to be a theater dork (guilty) to get into last night's 64th Annual Tony Awards. But it DID help to be a Gleek. "Glee" stars Lea Michele, known for her Broadway breakthrough in "Spring Awakening," and Matthew Morrison, whose Broadway credits include "The Light in the Piazza" and "Hairspray," didn't just attend the Tonys. They performed showstoppers to a Tony crowd that included Broadway's top brass and Hollywood royalty such as Scarlett Johansson, Denzel Washington and Will Smith. Plus, Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Basically, it was Rachel Berry's dream come true.

+ Check out the 5 "Glee"-est moments of the 2010 Tony Awards.

1.) Lea Michele Hits The Red Carpet: Lea Michele hits the Tonys red carpet in a bright yellow Zac Posen gown, officially proving that there is NO color Lea Michele can't pull off.

2.) Matthew Morrison Performs "All I Need Is The Girl" Shue performs “All I Need Is The Girl" from "Gypsy," pulls off some dance moves Mike Chang would be proud of, and treats the audience to an open shirt. Huzzah!

3.) Lea Michele Takes A Seat ... On Jonathan Groff's Lap: One of New Dimensions' signature moves is the Enter Through The Exit, which is exactly how Lea Michele started her performance of "Don't Rain On My Parade from "Funny Girl." She landed right in Jonathan Groff's lap. Wouldn't they make the cutest couple? Oh wait ...

4.) Lea Michele Does Her Best Barbra Streisand: Lea Michele channels Rachel Berry channeling Barbra Streisand through and through. Right down to the white dress. If her performance of the key song from "Funny Girl" doesn't nab her the lead in the show's revival, then nothing will.

5.) Lea Michele Meets Ricky Martin! Would they make the cutest couple? Oh ... wait. Still, is a Lea Michele/Ricky Martin photo opp a subliminal message that an all-Ricky Martin episode of "Glee" is on top for Season 3? Ryan Murphy, are you reading this?

** Yes, they used "New Dimensions" instead of "New Directions". Someone did comment on the article to correct Tamar. Also, here is the link incase you want to see the pix! http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2010/06/14/the-5-glee-est-moments-of-the-2010-tony-awards/

Top 5 Reasons...

Source: The Wrap (www.thewrap.com), by Dominic Patten

5 Reasons 'Glee' Beat the Musicals Curse
Perfect timing, perfect pitch ... and Sue Sylvester ... lead to a season of shouldn't-have-happened success

It's been quite a first year for Fox's shouldn't-have-happened musical hit.

Bringing down the curtain Tuesday night on its first season, "Glee" -- which launched on May 19, 2009 -- has had great ratings, a slew of Top 10 hits, Golden Globe nominations, SAG and Peabody wins, guest stars lining up like sophomores for try-outs, a Hot Topic tour, sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall and appearances at the Super Bowl, the White House Easter Egg hunt and “Oprah.”

Not bad for a show about a bunch of singing high-school misfits that stars some Broadway staples, the guy who played Attila the Hun in the “Night at the Museum” feature films and a journeywoman actress best known for playing the strict Granny in “Talladega Nights.”

So why does “Glee” work? Perhaps it's because of a secure Midwestern sense of self and a catalog that ranges from Bacharach to Beyoncé and beyond. Perhaps because it never tries to be better than the sum of its parts – instead, it embraces them.

Perhaps because of this:

1. THE TIMING
Sure, the “Once More, With Feeling” musical episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was a commercial and critical success back in November 2001. But that was just one episode. The landscape is littered with musical series that barely made it through one season, from Steven Bochco's terribly titled "Cop Rock" to the more recent resuscitation of "Fame."

It helps that "Glee" was planted in extremely fertile soil -- soil tilled by “American Idol,” now “Glee’s” lead-in on Fox on Tuesday nights, and “High School Musical.” It doesn't hurt that "Idol's" group sings feel grossly amateurish by comparison.

But most important, the nation has dramatically shifted in its diversity in the last few years -- and “Glee” successfully reflects the country back to itself. To quote Barack Obama’s career-making speech before the 2004 Democratic National Convention, “We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states,” and "Glee" mixes stereotypes galore.

It might be a bit too saccharine for some, but when 12.4 million viewers watch every week, they see and hear themselves.

2. THE HOMAGES

From Madonna -- who had a whole show dedicated to her on May 25 -- to Lady Gaga to Kiss, "Glee" seems to have never met a makeup-slathered icon it didn't want to emulate. In fact, it has rarely encountered a winning formula from which it didn't beg, borrow or steal.

Jane Lynch’s shot-by-shot replication of the Material Girl’s “Vogue” video was a hilarious and loving homage. The in-the-round rendition of Kiss’ “Beth” reeked of a ripoff of Extreme’s early '90s video of “More Than Words,” and Matthew Morrison’s Will Schuester is nothing if not a veiled version of Justin Timberlake’s older and slightly geekier brother.

Call it plagiarism if you want, but reaching back time and time again to what's worked so well before, the producers prove week after week that “good artists borrow, great artists steal.” Even nostalgia icon John Stamos has been cast in a recurring role next season as a love interest for Emma (Jayma Mays).

3. THE CHARACTERS

To succeed in America, you need to reach the Great Undecideds.

Corporations spend millions trying to capture the attention and loyalty of the mallrats, the jocks, the Goths, the cheerleaders, the gender benders and everybody who doesn’t feel like they fit in. Meld together that demographic with the mainstream and you are almost assured a winner.

From paraplegic Artie, flamboyant Kurt, wide-eyed Rachel, nice jock Finn, nasty jock Puck, pregnant celibacy club President and star Cheerio Quinn and soulful Mercedes, not to mention all the grown-ups on the show and an arch villain in cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, “Glee” checks off all those boxes with wit.

4. THE MUSIC

As any viewer of “American Idol” this season and any record company licensing manager knows, success in 2010 is not just in the singer but the songs. Which, from the all-Madonna episode, showtunes, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin” -- brought back for the Regionals Finale on June 8 -- and Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” is “Glee’s” genius. It cuts the musical Gordian knot by injecting audiences with something that sounds both familiar and fresh at the same time.

“Glee” deftly resurrects many of the guilty pleasures of the 1970s and 1980s, and mixed them with songs by the likes of Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera that sound like they could have come out back then.

It’s not the most original of ideas -- the Journey tune famously closed out “The Sopranos” finale -- but with millions of downloads and albums sold, and the just-released “Journey to Regionals” E.P. likely to add to that goldmine, it is a bestselling one.

5. SUE SYLVESTER

What happens when you mix a tyrannically ambitious interpretation of John Wooden's Pyramid of Success, a half-read copy of the management tome "Good to Great," Lance Armstrong and Karl Rove with too many protein shakes and a unhealthy obsession with Madonna?

You get Sue Sylvester, the champion cheerleading coach who ruthlessly runs McKinley High and is uninhibited in her desire to quash the choir kids.

Played by Jane Lynch, who stole the screen when she was in “The 40-Year Old Virgin,” “Best in Show” and Will Farrell’s NASCAR comedy “Talladega Nights,” Sylvester has become one of the most compelling and unpredictable TV characters in decades.

America loves a villain -- just ask Alan Rickman, Jack Nicholson and Joan Collins -- but never has an Adidas tracksuit been worn so fiercely.

Lea & Matthew Perform at the Tony's!

OK, all...

Just watched the back-to-back performances of Matthew Morrison & Lea Michele.

Mr. Shue was doing a lot of work & was quite entertaining. From the pix I saw of the dress rehearsals, it didn't disappoint! He was out of breath by the end, but he danced his behind off & stayed in tune! He was wonderful!

I am still disappointed that Lea Michele did "Don't Rain on my Parade". She did it JUST like she did on the "Sectionals" episode. However, she did find Jonathan Groff (aka - Jessie St. James) & sat on his lap, plus flirted with Will Smith & Jay-Z. Even with all of that, AND the shout out to the Tony's, it still read just like sectionals on GLEE. Really wished she'd done something else. You know...Kristen Chenoweth AND Indina Menzel were there...they could have all gotten together & done a big ol' "For Good" rendition that would've, could've, been beautiful!

What did everyone else think?

Songs for the Tony's Tonight!

According to The GLEEk Spot Twitter account (@theGLEEkspot):

Matthew Morrison will be performing "All I Need is a Girl" from the musical "Gyspsy".

Lea Michelle will be performing "Don't Rain on my Parade" from "Funny Girl". We've already heard her do this one at sectionals.

I am intrigued by Mr. Morrison's selection & by the pix I've seen, it should be really entertaining! Lea's is a bit disappointing just because so many have already heard her do this Barbara Streisand song.

Thoughts?

Lea Michelle Gets a Shot at OZ

She's not in Kansas anymore! As part of her summer vacation from Glee, Lea Michele (Rachel) will play the voice of Dorothy in Dorothy of Oz, a 3D animated adaption of the classic Wizard of Oz story.

Based on the writings of children's author Roger S. Baum (great-grandson of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum), the film will center around Dorothy returning to tornado-ravaged Kanas and then heading back to Oz. There will also be much singing and dancing, with songs and lyrics written by Bryan Adams. Completing the cast is Dan Aykroyd as the Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer as the Tin Man, and James Belushi as the Cowardly Lion. It will also star the voices of Martin Short, Patrick Stewart & Oliver Platt.

We can only assume that Lea's animated avatar will look adorable! And I'm sure we're not the only ones who think this is absolutely the perfect part for her. Expect to catch Lea on the big screen sometime in 2012. We can't wait!

Hulu & GLEE

I was really worried that Hulu.com wouldn't go back & start posting early episodes of GLEE since they only had the latest five.

YEA FOR HULU!! I'm so happy to say that they have reposted "Showmance"!! It looks like they will be treating all of these reruns as first runs!!

Wanted to let you all know that you can go to www.hulu.com to watch whatever you missed from these Thursday reruns!!

No More Bryan Ryan??

Gleeks might have loved it when Neil Patrick Harris (Bryan Ryan) appeared on Glee this season, but there is some bad news: Don't expect to see him again. Say it ain't so, Neil!

When asked if he would return to our favorite show, NPH replied: "I doubt it. I loved doing it but I'm very contractually obligated to a different network."

That network is, of course, CBS, which airs his day job, How I Met Your Mother. Says Harris: "As much as I'm sure they like the recognition of my name involved with Glee, I think they'd prefer my name be involved with How I Met Your Mother. I can hardly blame them." Come on CBS, let him come back!

Source: E!

SHOWMANCE

Well, wasn't that fun?

Tonight, we got to watch the scrappy glee club try to fight for themselves, Mr. Shue's gullible/newby side, and Sue Sylvester in all of her man-eating glory! Plus, we get to see the crazies in Will's life.

So much was over-the-top, but this was giving us a sense of who everyone is, or at least starts out to be.

I was laughing hysterically during "Push It" & then the "pre approved" song list from Mr. Figgin's pastor. And the whole "celebacy club" thing was crazy funny.

We also get to see Finn coming into his own as he learns to deal with his talent & trying to balance it with his "coolness".

This is why this show is so good!!

Another Teacher for McKinley High

** As found on Gleetastic.com:

First John Stamos, now Matt Lucas! Glee will be adding yet another character to its roster next season — a new teacher played by Lucas. You probably don't know Matt by name (and though his bald head is striking, you might not know him by sight either), but you've certainly seen the actor before. Well, some of him. Matt portrayed Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton's massive hit Alice in Wonderland.

Matt's character on Glee will be that of a teacher with a hidden love of Broadway musicals. So, like Neil Patrick Harris' character, but actually a teacher. Got it!

GLEE Book Series?

According to EW.com's Tina Jordan:

After last night’s Glee finale, you probably thought some of the mania would die down for a bit? Not a chance. Shelf Life has learned that Little, Brown Books for Young Readers has struck a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to publish a line of official Glee-related books. (There are Glee books aplenty out there, but they are all unauthorized.) Little, Brown has multiple book projects in the works for its Glee program; the first to roll off the press will be an original novel called Glee: The Beginning. This prequel to the show, which includes a double-sided poster, will hit stores this August.

Tony's & Dentist

This coming Sunday, June 13th, the Tony's will air & Matthew Morrison (Will Shuester) & Lea Michelle (Rachael Berry) will be making appearances!!

Also, after much discussion, debate, wondering who could play the dentist that Emma Pillsbury is dating, it has been confirmed that JOHN STAMOS will be appearing on GLEE as Emma's dentist/love interest! Never thought of him, but I think it's a good choice!

All About GLEE!

Hello, fellow GLEEks!!

I have started this blog to start putting my thoughts about the episodes of GLEE. I know we just watched the season 1 finale, but they are starting over, so I will be doing a retrospect, if you will.
