Botox Forces Rewrite on GLEE

From abs-cbnNEWS.com:

MANILA, Philippines – After the global backlash that resulted from Charice’s much-publicized cosmetic procedures, Ryan Murphy, the creator of hit American musical television series “Glee,” was forced to rewrite her episode, a report said.

The New York Magazine reported on July 19 that the rewritten episode contains a message that “it's important to love and embrace one's naturally round face as it is."

This was apparently in response to Filipino cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo’s explanation that the thermage and Botox procedures done on Charice was intended to make the 18-year-old singer’s naturally round face more narrow.

Belo said the botulinum toxin injections, which immobilize some muscles, would not have any effect on Charice's voice.

Recently, Charice caused an Internet uproar after having cosmetic surgery to improve her looks ahead of her debut on top US television show "Glee."

"It's one of the big preparations we are making for 'Glee' and of course I also want to look fresh on cam," Charice said in a TV interview as she defended her decision to have cosmetic surgery at such a young age.

Fans, however, flooded the star's official website, www.charicemania.com, as the issue became a hot Internet topic, with many lamenting the fact that she felt pressure to alter her face.

Worried by the negative feedbacks, Charice’s mom, Raquel, called on the public not to make a big deal out of the issue.

She tweeted: “Don't make it big deal pls? It might affect Cha's career. Belo, if you read this help Charice to achieve her dream. Don't push her down.”

Raquel also claimed that Belo “broke the confidentiality between the patient and the doctor” when the celebrity cosmetic surgeon allowed the media to witness the procedures.

In response, the Belo Medical Group tweeted: “As with all endorsers, this wouldn't have been made public without Charice's knowledge and consent.”

Charice's procedure has become a top-10 global topic on the social networking site Twitter.

The diminutive Filipina first gained global renown through video-sharing website YouTube and has since become a favorite of US TV talk show queen Oprah Winfrey.

"Glee" is an hour-long comedy series that follows an optimistic high school teacher as he works with a group of outcasts to revive the fortunes of the school's performance art club
