Yeah! What About That?

From Kristin Dos Santos at www.eonline.com's Watch with Kristin:

So you still like the Glee, do you? Twelve million fans tuned in for the season-two premiere last night, but by the looks of our mailbag, the episode left some of you with questions about the comings and goings at New Directions. So, who's who, and what's to come? We've got your answers right here!

What happened to Matt, aka Shaft, aka "copresident of the background dancers union"?
As Mr. Shue mentioned in passing, Matt (Dijon Talton) has transferred schools, dropping the glee club's membership down to just 11. Of course, what actually happened is a little something we like to call "writers' room Darwinism." After Glee blew up into a global phenomenon, all of the onetime background characters (Santana, Brittany, Mike Chang) that could be evolved into frontline characters got promoted. Poor Matt was deemed unfit by the evolutionary forces of "story," so he was eliminated. Here's hoping that Dijon Talton goes on to many other great things in the future and the story of how he was let go from Glee becomes just a hilarious anecdote about his rise to fame and personal fulfillment. Good luck, Dijon!

What happened to Coach Ken Tanaka?
Tanaka (Patrick Gallagher) had a nervous breakdown and quit—no doubt because Emma (Jayma Mays) broke his heart. Producers never explained publicly why they switched out their football coaches, but presumably Tanaka was no longer needed as a romantic rival for Mr. Shue. And heck, how could the writers resist giving Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) a Beiste-ly new female football coach to mock?

Who the heck is Charice anyway?
What? You're not hip to Filipina pop stars?! Jeez. OK then, Charice Pempengco is an 18-year-old YouTube sensation who has released two hit albums and appeared on Oprah'sWorld's Most Talented Kids show. You can watch the video for her single "Pyramid" here, and follow her on Twitter @OfficialCharice.

Will Wicked costars Idina Menzel or Kristin Chenoweth be back?
Menzel's character, Shelby Corcoran, resigned as coach of rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline to spend more time with adopted daughter Beth (Puck and Quinn's biological child), but luckily Cheyenne Jackson (who was hilarious last year as Canadian import Danny Baker on 30 Rock) is stepping into her shoes. FYI, you can follow Cheyenne on Twitter at @cheyguynyc, should you so desire. Meanwhile, Kristin Chenoweth is shooting another installment of Glee in just two short weeks!

Hello, Chord Overstreet! You're too pretty not to be dating someone. So who will it be?
@ChordOverstreet himself has played coy on this question for months; Jane Lynch suggested that he'd be hooking up with Chris Colfer's Kurt Hummel; but there's also talk that he could be getting with Quinn, and Dianna Agron told us at the premiere party, "What do we know other than the cheerleader and the footballer?" Huh. Well, we can only hope that Sam is bisexual and that he'll be dating both Quinn and Kurt (at different times, presumably).

Christmas in July = PRESENTS

From Eonline.com's Krisin Dos Santos:

Glee is back, baby! OK, not on your television set just yet, but the stars are finally back on set as of today.

So what, and more importantly who, can we expect to see this season? The cast and producers hit up the TV Academy to celebrate their 19 nominations, and when Matthew Morrison wasn't assaulting me (see Part 1!), boss Ryan Murphy was spilling scoop on the status of Jonathan Groff, Javier Bardem, Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel and….wait a minute…Paul McCartney?!

This is high school, so let's do a little roll call on season two, shall we? Starting off with the most exciting:

Patrick Ecclesine/FOX Jonathan Groff: Present! "Jonathan is doing a play in London till January," boss Ryan Murphy explains. "But yeah, as it moves toward the big competition, I think he has to come back and give Rachel a pep talk, don't you? So yes, he will be back." Allow me to repeat those words to you: Yes, Jonathan Groff will be back on Glee. I'll pause while you spazz out with jazz hands, back flips and/or raucous applause...your choice.

John Stamos: Present! Jayma Mays is just a smidge excited for her "first date" with her new love interest as you can see in the exclusive video above! Says Ryan, "A lot of people don't realize, but you know, in the tradition of Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth and Jonathan Groff, he has had really great experience on Broadway, and we're excited about him and think he is perfect for this role."

Neil Patrick Harris: (Fingers Crossed) Present! They're working on it. "We would love to have Neil back," Ryan says. "We have a little problem that he's a regular on another show. But he's in the Fox family and they help us out a great deal with that. I think we've just begun to see the tip of the villainry for Brian Ryan."

When I suggested Teri Schuester (Jessalyn Gilsig) hook up with NPH's Brian Ryan (who, remember, had a crush on her in high school), Ryan said: "I think that's a great idea actually. We had Jessalyn ear-marked for another person but…" To which Jessalyn interjected: "Who? Javier Bardem? Yo hablo Espanol." ¡Yo LOL!

Javier Bardem: ¡Presente! "It was a very sweet thing," Ryan says about meeting Javier. "I'm doing a movie, Eat Prey Love, and Javier Bardem is in it with Julia Roberts. I hadn't met him, and so I went up to him and I said, 'Buddy, congratulations on your Best Actor nomination at Cannes.' And he said, "I do not want to talk about that I want to talk about Glee.' He rented the whole first season and watched them and said it was like crack to him. And he loved what it was about and he asked if I would write him a role. He said, "I want to be a Spanish rock 'n' roll star." And so I'm going to see him this week and we'll see how he's going to fit in. It will definitely be in the second half of the season."

Wicked Awesome Stars: Present! Says Ryan: We're going to have Kristin Chenoweth back. Idina Menzel back. People that we love we love and we just keep bringing them back.

Paul McCartney: Would Like to Be Present! When asked about the actors and musicians who are now asking to be a part of Glee, Ryan revealed that Paul McCartney is one of them. "The other day a package arrived at my office and I opened it up and it said 'Mixtape From Paul McCartney.' It was very sweet...It was a CD, I apologize. It was these amazing songs that I grew up with. And I said, "Is this a joke?" It literally said "Greeting, from Paul." This is a strange, strange world we live in, and it's awesome."

Mike Chang, Brittany and Santana: More Present! You'll see more of all three of these character this season, complete with Santana-Brittany liplock and Mike-Tina pairing. "We just happened upon three really brilliant people," executive producer Ian Brennan explains. "We're just like holy s--t. And then to be able to find room for these people and to be able to investigate them is such a joy. I can't wait for those episodes."

All Your Old Faves: Present! This quote might excite you fans the most, cause Ryan is making sure we know that they are not turning Glee into a guest-star-of-the-week or theme-of-the-week show. "I think because of the back half of the first season, people thought that season two would be bigger and brighter and more numbers," Ryan tells me, "but actually we are doing a different approach. When we did the tour, we saw how people just went nuts when these kids came out and we really feel a responsibility to write to the characters we have and break them out and give them more moments to shine." Say it with me now: Holllleeer.

Yet Another New Coach

From EW.com's Michael Ausiello:

30 Rock’s Cheyenne Jackson is joining the cast of Glee in a major recurring role, sources confirm to me exclusively. What role would that be? Keep reading for the scoop!

Jackson—who was a hoot and a half in Broadway’s Xanadu—will succeed Idina Menzel as the coach of Vocal Adrenaline.

Jackson has been on a bit of a roll as of late. In addition to 30 Rock, he also landed a guest stint on the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. And now he’s on the hottest TV show on the planet.

And More From Comic-Con...

From Jenna Mullins at Eonline.com:

Ready to get your Glee on? We just got to chat with Ryan Murphy and his always fab Glee cast, and of course hit up the panel session here at Comic-Con to soak up as much Glee scoop as humanly possible. Here's what you fans absolutely must know...

Unfortunately, Matthew Morrison, Jayma Mayes, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron were not at Comic-Con, so there was no talk about those particular love triangles. We know, we can hear your cries of frustration from San Diego. Lucky us, tons of other cast members were there, and we have plenty of other Glee goodies for your perusal! Here are your highlights:

New love triangle! Ryan reveals that Tina will fall out of love with Artie and start falling in love with Mike Chang. Commence gasps of shock and betrayal.

Britney! The Britney Spears episode, called "Britney/Brittany" will be airing in September and will consists of six songs. "We're doing it in a very funny way. We're doing it in a fun, hallucinogenic way," Ryan reveals. Since Matt Morrison publically voiced his objections to a Britney-themed episode, Mr. Schuester will spend the whole episode refusing to do Britney songs. Ha! Awesome, right?

Glee in 3-D! No, seriously! Ryan was asked to do a Glee movie, but he declined. He did say if he were to ever take Glee to the big screen, he'd want to do "a 3-D concert version from Radio City." Shall we start that campaign now?

More mama drama. Ryan confirmed that Idina Menzel will be back for season two. Holler!

Not bringing sexy back. The rumor of Justin Timberlake appearing on Glee was again squashed by Ryan, but he did think that if he were to come on the show, he'd be perfect as Will's younger brother.

Daniel Sakow/PictureGroup via AP IMAGES New couple alert! Kind of. Currently, the writers are toying around with having Brittany and Santana kiss. Naya Rivera was also kind enough to drop their fan-given couple name: "Santittany." Titillating!

Less music? In the second season, Ryan and Co. will be focusing more on characters and their stories and less on musical numbers. He guesses season two will average about five numbers an episode as opposed to last season's eight. But rest assured, Ryan did promise that some episodes would get music-crazy.

Geek-splosion! Ryan announced they will be doing a Rocky Horror Picture Show-themed episode.

Season opener. The first half of the premiere episode will be catching up with everyone and what they did on their summer vacation. Ryan plans on starting the gang at "ground zero," as he calls it. "They start the year as bigger losers than they were last year because of their very public third-place finish."

Praise Jebus! Ryan revealed an upcoming episode theme to be religion. Songs to be covered: "Losing my Religion" and "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" Also, Mercedes will be taking Kurt somewhere special: her church! We already have goosebumps forming in anticipation of that gospel number.

Super Glee. We know that the precious time slot following the Super Bowl will be filled by Glee, but Ryan revealed it will be a tribute episode, though he can't tell us who they will be honoring.

Friend forever. Amber Riley told the crowd she loves Mercedes' relationship with Quinn and that she hopes it continues.

Home life. We are going to get glimpses into the home lives of New Directions. Ryan is interested in meeting Artie's mother, Rachel's two gay dads, and he also believes that Brittany has a "really smart older sister."

More O'Malley, More Spoilers, more, More, MORE!

By Korbi at www.givememyremote.com:

When I spoke to GLEE’s Mike O’Malley (Kurt’s dad, Burt Hummel) on Monday — in honor of his Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor — I got the feeling that the audience’s wish to see more of his character may be coming true.

But O’Malley couldn’t quite confirm anything.

Thankfully, I got some face time with his boss, executive producer Ryan Murphy, later in the day and he made the news official.

Mike O’Malley will indeed be a series regular for GLEE season 2.

This is a great thing for wonderful guy whom writer/producer Brad Falchuk named immediately when I asked if there was a particular nomination — among the show’s whopping 19 — that they were really excited about.

You can see this for yourself in my full video interview with him, Murphy, and Ian Brennan below… along with the reveal of a whole slew of other semi-spoilers, such as the fate of Rachel and Finn’s relationship this season — they will be a legitimate couple all year long, despite struggling with their clear differences — and the fact that Puck and Quinn won’t be together, as Quinn has her own journey to navigate now that she’s sans baby — the guys say she’ll be back to her old, bitchy self while somehow managing to maintain BFF status with Mercedes.

And what about a Puck and Rachel reunion?

The show may go there again, Murphy shares. It’s definitely possible. But he promises that a duet between the two of them this season is a sure thing.

What else did I learn?

Well, most of the outrageous guest star rumors are completely untrue, especially since they intend to really keep the focus on their regular cast members this year.

Javier Bardem, however, is a huge fan of the show and Murphy will write something for him, because how do you say no to Javier Bardem?

There is also a Britney Spears episode in the works — which Brit Brit is not expected to appear in — but it will somehow put the spotlight on her. Murphy says it won’t be like the Madonna-themed ep — in which, 10 of the artist’s songs were worked into the hour — or like the Lady Gaga-themed ep — during which, the artist’s fashion sense was really put on display — but something rather unlike anything they’ve done before. And the very quotable ditz, Brittany (Heather Morris), will apparently take center stage for it, singing two entire songs.

The guys say there is absolutely nothing in the works with Justin Timberlake though, so JT will not be wooing Terri Schuester (Jessalyn Gilsig) this season. Terri will be back in the mix full time, however, devoting her day-to-day efforts to winning Will back. One of the ways she’ll try to do it? By getting involved with a dude who’s actually capable of making him jealous. Whom that guy is, though, is still a mystery at this moment.

Kristin Chenoweth, as we previously reported, will return and the boys are just crossing their fingers that they’ll get the chance to bring Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff and Idina Menzel back as well…

GLEEful Family Connections I would LOVE

OK, GLEEks...stick with me on some of these. Some of these guests have already happened, been confirmed, are trying to get on, or would just be fun to see!

* Idina Menzel as Rachael's mother (check!)
* Justin Timberlake as Will Shuester's little bro (*cross fingers*)
* Jennifer Lopez as Santana's mother
* Carol Burrnette as Sue Sylvester's mother (oh...can you see it?)
* Betty White as Brittany's great-grandmother, named Kitty or Cathrine & goes by "Cat" (and, yes, she's been reading the diary - HA!)
* Greyson Chance as Jessie St. James little bro

Who else have you got that you would love to see in a family connection on GLEE? Like maybe Rachael's dads? Hmmmmm...

SPOILERS & RUMORS for Season 2

If you don't want any spoilers...then DO NOT READ!!

** SPOILER & POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT **

According to theGLEEkspot.tumblr.com:

Lots of have been asking for S2 spoilers, so I’m just gonna do one big post on what I know.
NEW CHARACTERS:
1. Kurt is getting a boyfriend. He’s apparently supposed to be pretty chill and laid back, just an everyday guy. But he’s also gonna be struggling with his sexuality, and Kurt is gonna help him out through all that.
2. Rival for Rachel. A christian country singer, a la Carrie Underwood. She’s also supposed to have a pretty big problem with Kurt and his new man being gay.
3. Possible love interest for Mercedes.

GUEST STARS:
John Stamos is confirmed, he’ll be playing Emma’s dentist, the new boyfriend. I sense lots of tension between him and Will. Susan Boyle is also confirmed. Rumored are Matt Lucas, also Leona Lewis who apparenty celebrated her role with Matt Morrison in London. Taye Diggs has said he’s on board for the show, so has Tim Urban. But these days, everyone wants to be on Glee, so who knows who’s actually gonna make it.

TRIBUTE EPISODES:
Expect 2 this season, one in the fall and one in the spring. One has a pretty darn good shot at being another episode dedicated to Madonna, the other one isn’t decided. Ryan’s thrown around names like Britney Spears and Billy Joel. I’m pretty sure we’re getting a Britney episode. Ryan’s basically said it without saying it. He wants it BAD.

THE RETURN OF PAST CHARACTERS:
April Rhodes will be back for Season 2. Ryan has said he’d love to bring Idina and Jonathan back to reprise their roles as Shelby and Jess[i]e, but don’t count on them being regulars again.

SEASON 2 FINALE:
Nationals in New York. So this means alot. We know if they show Sectionals or Regionals that they win. Ryan says he hasn’t decided if they’re going to win yet or not, but he promises it’s gonna be BIG.

SONGS:
An unofficial list was leaked a few weeks ago of the songs for the first episode. They include:

1. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba (New Directions)
2. Open Your Eyes To Love by LMNT (Rachel and Finn)
3. Come Back To Me by David Cook (Will)
4. Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen
5. Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt (Puck)

This is huge rumor. It DOES fit, though. So don’t quote me on these.

SOME OTHER NEWS:
THERE WILL BE A CHRISTMAS EPISODE. I’m very excited. This is Susan Boyle’s episode, too. There’s also an episode after the Superbowl, which will be a tribute episode. Artie and Puck will both have to reaudition for New Directions, but only one will make it. (I think there’s a catch, here.)
I’ll keep you guys updated as I hear more!

** Just FYI, Matt Lucas HAS been confirmed as a teacher for Season 2! Check out http://allgleek2me.blogspot.com/2010/06/another-teacher-for-mckinley-high.html

Family Affair?

Source: www.buddytv.com by Henrik Batallones

Really, gleeks, we should've seen this coming: the same way Idina Menzel expressed her interest in joining Glee -- which ended in her taking a guest role in the recently concluded season -- her husband is now saying the same thing.

Talking to E! Online, Taye Diggs said, simply, that he'd also want to do Glee in the future. "I would love to do it," he said. "I love the show. I'm a straight up fan. It's so enjoyable to watch and to see a show for people who to sing and dance."

The Private Practice star also appreciated how the Glee writers treated Menzel's storyline, from kick-ass Vocal Adenaline coach to Rachel's biological mother in less than two months. "I love how they integrated Idina into the show, and I would love to be a guest," he said.

Diggs, of course, is also a Broadway veteran, making a splash as part of the original cast of the Broadway musical Rent -- where he and Menzel met.

That said, would you also want Diggs to join Glee, even if just for one episode? What role should he take? Can we have a little in-joke and have him as one of Rachel's dads?

** I love that he has interest! He'd be awesome! However...it would be funny if he were one of Rachael's dads...but that would mean her Jewish dad is the real father & Rachael made a comment that she loved that she didn't know which one was her real dad. Not sure if that one would work.

OK...comment away, GLEEks!!

Lea & Matthew Perform at the Tony's!

OK, all...

Just watched the back-to-back performances of Matthew Morrison & Lea Michele.

Mr. Shue was doing a lot of work & was quite entertaining. From the pix I saw of the dress rehearsals, it didn't disappoint! He was out of breath by the end, but he danced his behind off & stayed in tune! He was wonderful!

I am still disappointed that Lea Michele did "Don't Rain on my Parade". She did it JUST like she did on the "Sectionals" episode. However, she did find Jonathan Groff (aka - Jessie St. James) & sat on his lap, plus flirted with Will Smith & Jay-Z. Even with all of that, AND the shout out to the Tony's, it still read just like sectionals on GLEE. Really wished she'd done something else. You know...Kristen Chenoweth AND Indina Menzel were there...they could have all gotten together & done a big ol' "For Good" rendition that would've, could've, been beautiful!

What did everyone else think?
